Privacy Policy for Tab Shortcuts for Google Chrome™

Effective date: November 2, 2026

Tab Shortcuts for Google Chrome™ is designed to perform user-requested tab actions without advertising, analytics, telemetry, remote code, or developer-operated servers.

Information the extension uses

  • Shortcut preferences. The extension stores the enabled or paused preference and the keyboard combinations assigned to supported actions with chrome.storage.sync. Chrome may synchronize these preferences across the user’s signed-in browser profiles according to the user’s Chrome settings. The developer does not receive them.

  • Keyboard events. If the user grants optional access to regular HTTP and HTTPS pages, a small listener compares key presses with the user’s saved combinations. It does not create a key history, retain unrelated key presses, or transmit keyboard activity.

  • Browser information and requested actions. When you open the popup or invoke an action, the extension locally reads tab and window metadata needed to show available actions and carry them out. This includes tab IDs, positions, pinned state, page titles and URLs, whether a recently closed tab or window is available, whether the current page is in Reading List, and the current site’s sound setting. After optional page access is granted, eligible tab addresses are also used to install the shortcut listener. The developer does not receive this information. The extension does not independently store browsing history or page content. Bookmarks, Reading List entries, and site sound settings created by requested actions remain in Chrome until changed or removed using Chrome.

Collection, sharing, and sale

The developer does not collect, receive, sell, rent, or share personal information, browsing activity, page content, shortcut preferences, or keyboard activity. The extension makes no network requests. Chrome’s own browser synchronization and storage behavior is governed by the user’s Google and Chrome settings and policies.

Retention and deletion

Shortcut preferences remain in Chrome Sync until the user replaces or clears them, clears extension data in Chrome, or removes them through Chrome’s account and synchronization controls. The popup provides a Clear custom control for shortcut mappings.

Permissions

The extension requests only permissions used for its stated purpose. Optional HTTP and HTTPS access is requested when the user assigns the first custom page shortcut and can be revoked at any time from Chrome’s extension settings. Revoking it limits custom shortcuts to the extension popup; Chrome-managed browser-wide shortcuts remain available.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes and contact

Material changes to this policy will be reflected by updating the effective date and the public policy page supplied in the Chrome Web Store listing. For questions about this policy, use the support contact listed on the extension’s store page.
